Hi and thanks for joining me on my big adventure- South Pole Solo.
My key focus will be to try and manhaul a sled on skis from the edge of the Antarctic coast from Hercules Inlet to the South Pole, a journey of around 1154km’s.

My main mission will be to make the right decisions to maximise my safety, and to return in good health. No matter how far I get, I intend to celebrate every day in this amazing environment.

Should I reach the pole, feel strong and in good spirits, I will then decide if I continue with the secondary option of using my kites to kite-ski all the way back. A major factor in this decision will be logistical. Time may not provide the opportunity to consider the return journey before flight operations cease for the winter…oh…and I have to overcome the logistical problem of getting there in the first place.

Regardless, my key focus of reaching the south pole ‘solo and unsupported’ will be a massive challenge…and an incredible adventure.

Satellie communications permitting, each day I’ll aim to provide you with a quick update on what’s happening and how I’m feeling. You can expect to read about lots of my ‘emotions’ ie joy, sadness, guilt, pain, love, anger and frustration. I’m expecting round 70% of this adventure will revolve around mental challenges. ( As I struggle through these, you can also expect a few delving questions your way).

To mix things up, I’ll also throw in some fun and ‘attempted humour’…which will become more twisted as the trip continues. (You’ve been warned).

So stay tuned to ‘The Adventure Instinct’, and thanks once again for taking the journey with me.

It’s going to be a big one.

Mark ‘Georgie’ George

Good Luck on your challenge. “No matter the size of the journey, the pain, the problem or the possibility, it only takes one foot infront of the other to continue to move forward”
