D Day at Last

Finally I got dropped off at Hercules Inlet at 12pm today, so the clock starts ticking.

I had a very hard day, the sled weighs 100 kilograms and really deep snow at the start.  I am only wearing half skins on my skis which is giving me little grip. So I spent 2 hours floundering round hardly going anywhere, which is incredibly frustrating and using up a huge amount of energy.

I decided to change to full skins which has been a little better but still a really hard slog  -  have done about 6 hours and need to get my body accustomed to the long days.  My battery has gone flat on the GPS tracker so don’t know how far I have gone and I am too tired to go outside and charge it up.

Now in my tent alone, having mixed emotions about why I am doing this.

Need a rest and hopefully it is not as hard tomorrow.
