My Shadow

Camp:  South 80 47.657  West 80 08.010
Distance:  12 nautical miles
Time:  approximately 9 hours
Weather temperature:  -15, wind chill from 15-20 knot head wind
Snow:  good in the morning, ok in the middle of the day and glue at the end

Snow conditions filled my head today as big struggle during middle of day as it felt like I was carrying an anchor behind me.  Then when the snow turned to glue all afternoon……rrrrrrrrrrrgghh!!

The further I go I am told the snow conditions will get better in about 100-200kms, so I will keep tracking along until I get there!!

Physically I walk alone, just me and my shadow but know so many people are walking with me.  I can feel it from all the messages I get relayed to me from the blog, they are of great comfort.

Apart from a few niggles & aches, this 46 year old body is going ok and my mind (although twisted) gains strength from everyone walking with me.

The song for the day is an ironic title by Green Day  ”The Boulevard of Broken Dreams”.   My dreams certainly aren’t broken yet but the lyrics grabbed me as I spent about 5 hours today navigating by my shadow.

Song from Ben and Will today – “Go You Good Things”.

Kisses to me, hugs to everyone.   Be in touch tomorrow.

    G’day Georgie,
Sounds like the going is a little challenging right now. Good to get the tough stuff out of the way early, then in a hundred km’s or so when the snow eases a little you can really start to enjoy the experience and the incredible environment you’re in. Have told lots of friends and colleagues about your expedition – they’re all hooked!!! Most think what you are doing is incredible, some a little crazy. However, all are unanimous in their admiration for you and can’t help but wonder what they might achieve if they put their minds to it. You’re inspiring a lot of people back here. Stay safe.

Georgie, you are a true inspiration. Included you in School newsletter this week as current role model and inspiration. You are right, we are all walking with you. Soldier on. Cheers. Ridgy

    Georgie
When you’re heaving that sled up the gluey slopes you might feel sore and alone but just know that we are all there in spirit willing you thru this very hard physical part of your journey. Keep trudging on. Groover and crew.

    HI Georgie
Gosh I’d forgotten you were going to be doing this – you are a marvel! It’s hard to envision just you and a sled out there in the middle of all that snow! What an incredible undertaking and I’m sure, a fabulous experience even through the tough bits … and so great that we can get to hear how it’s going on a daily basis. If anyone can do it – you can!
Am thinking of you, following the blog and willing you along towards that hot shower at the very end. Love. Bindi
