Silence
Camp: 81°34’9” South 79°34’269” West
Distance: 11.6 nautical miles (21.5 km)
Time: 9.5 hours and worked hard today
Weather: crystal clear, light wind
Snow: better in parts, but still tough, went up two big hills today
It’s been 11 days since I have heard every half hour a news bulletin telling me that someone has been murdered, bashed, robbed or some other horror stories. It’s been 11 days since I have read emails telling me that the world is stuffed economically, that the share market and property market were going to crash. It’s been 11 days since I have been bombarded with the digital tidal wave of noise that hits us each day.
Today I skied in silence. Enjoying the amazing place I am in, the solitude, and the silence.
To all the computers, email, DS’s the weather is great but what have we done.
We seem so addicted to them these days that there is never any time to be with mother nature or the silence.
Song of the day: Video killed the radio star by The Buggles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwuy4hHO3YQ

Marky Mark: Legend!! Extra-ordinary, as you would be. Hey, I’m hearing you – the silence would be awesome, but without your iPod …….
comment Well said Georgie! Although I do say that sitting through a mundane prep information session at Solway whilst I type my comment on the iPhone. Keep safe and enjoy the peace and quiet!! PS RB dropped interest rates by .25 today!!
Hey, didn’t expect you to do 21.5k with the soft snow; hope the weather stays good for you, and keep up the good work; ski, ski, ski and enjoy the solitude, but we do miss you heaps, Jan & TG
