Flashback

Camp:  South 83 72.482 west 79 28.977
Distance: 15.3 nautical miles (28.3km)
Time: 9.5 hours
Weather: 15knot wind in morning easing to quite still this evening
Snow: first 5 hours up and hill then getting better

I knew this trip would toss up lots of challenges and this morning has been no different.  I got up at 5.45am as I set myself the task of replacing the damaged section of my tent pole, which involves taking off the end and threading the cord back through.
Not too hard in Melbourne but try doing it in minus 30 & a 15knot wind and see how you go.
After thawing out my fingers about 20 times, the repair was complete and I was on my way.
And then another mental challenge confronted me.  As you may have picked up from previous blogs I had some gifts of music playlists download onto my ipod. It was when I had it on shuffle then it happened – a song by Savage Garden came on.  Oh no!
(Flashback to self)
You know the initial stages of a new relationship when you try to get the other person into your world or something else.  This was how it was with Nicole and me when she met me for our second date at a pub and was drinking pots of beer and telling me how much she loved golf.  She suggested we go away on a Golf Weekend to Rich River.  How cool is this dude I thought.
Then relationship got serious and she has never drunk a pot of beer or played golf since.
About the same time, Nicole offered me a spare ticket to the Savage Garden concert with her and her work mates.  Sure I said, that would be great (lying through my back teeth).
Then the relationship got serious and I have never put on a Savage Garden song ever since.
Now back to today.
As I juggled with gloves, zips, ipod buttons, I did not get there in time….. disaster struck and the chorus came on…..I gritted my teeth and decided to tough it out.
Mawson would be proud of me….then again poodles probably like Savage Garden?
Song of the Day:  Savage Garden  ”Crash and Burn”  (which is exactly what I have done in the eyes of all their fans)
Keep singing

Great story Georgie I laughed and laughed. I fell for the golf fable too, even forked out for a set of ladies golf clubs. If anyone needs ladies golf clubs “Like new, only been used once!” let me know.

Keep up the good work. You seem to be really motoring the last few days.
