South Pole solo
Thank You
Camp: 84° 56’ 824” South 81° 17’ 100” West
Distance: 16.3 nautical miles (30.1 km)
Time: 9.75 hours
Weather: amazingly still and quite barmey, minus 15 degrees
Snow: like running up sand dunes all day. Gosh.
Thank you to everyone who has been keeping up to date with my blog and taking the journey with me. (I understand that includes Olivia and your friends in Grade 5 at Mooroolbark East Primary School.)
There are also some supportive sponsors who need a special thank you.
My team at Portfolio Planners for one who are there for those needing advice whilst I’m away is very comforting.
Then there is Australian Power and Gas who has sponsored my sled – check out their great deals at www.australianpowerandgas.com.au. Next time I will ask them to include an electric motor or gas propelled engine on the sled.
Then there is Pivotel who supplied me with a Pivotel Iridium satellite phone and some air time www.pivotel.com.au (and guys if you’ve got any more air time credits that would be great).
My clothing was sponsored by Urdi (www.urdi.com.au). The thermals I am wearing are the best I have ever used. Sure you look like spiderman but they are brilliant. (At worst get a pair and surprise your partner by jumping out of the bedroom wardrobe – please let me know if this works).
Song of the Day is “Thank you” by the Whitlams http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgd6pjGSOVw
An exciting day coming up tomorrow, will touch base later.
