My Snow Wall

South 86 37.270  West 80 53.556
Distance: 17.6 nautical miles
Elevation: 1932m
Time: Just under 10 hours
Weather: 10-15knot head wind all day
Snow: Getting better the higher I go
A much better day today and I pretty happy with the distance considering the extra elevation gained and I did go an extra 20 minutes also.
Usually we get a weather forecast every three days or so to give us some indication if it is likely to be any strong winds over the following three days.
I did not receive the update before setting up my camp and I decided to put in a few extra bits in my snow wall incase the winds decided to increase.
The last thing you feel like doing is redressing and venturing outside the tent once you have settled in for the night, to increase the size of your snow wall if you get a forecast for stronger winds.
A bit of extra effort at the start also makes you sleep a little bit better as well.

Thought of you Mark on Christmas Day. What makes a man endure such a hazardous, solo journey as yours? There you are – half way through this amazing solo trek, a world away from your loved ones. “Another Brick in the Wall” is such an apt and motivational piece of music! Safe journey – love,

Hi MG, pretty good snow wall eh! Hope you fixed your stove ok. Didn’t go to races or cricket on boxing day; weather no good! Had great x’mas day, firstly at Gerald’s & Kays, then at Melins. All kids were very happy, as were the adults. Cricket score: Oz first innings 333; India 6/243, evenly poised at the moment. Jan says just keep taking care; we enjoy reading your progress reports and can’t wait for you to tell us all about it in person, Love Jan & TG
