Distance: 17.3 nautical miles
Elevation: 2090m
Time: 10 hours
Weather: Cold and 15 knot head wind
Snow: again quite good but had two really steep climbs today which hurt.
Some of you at various times have asked me if I have seen any animals???
Antarctica is a massive place and is supports an incredible population of animals and sea creatures.
People come in thousands each year to watch and be amazed by the massive population of penguins, whales, seals and birdlife.
But I have been here for 33 days so far and haven’t seen a thing.  Not even an insect.  And it is just me in my tent tonight, even the psychological tree frog has been banned after stealing the last of my christmas chocolate.  No animals, nor do i expect to see any the further inland I go towards the south pole.
Instead a song from my favourite band  Savage Garden  ”The Animal Song”  (just checking to see if you are all awake or all on holidays).  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_15ZrZXhXe8
To my sisters…..your wit is hilarious and suprises me, thanks I love it
To My God Daughter Victoria, thank you for your messages

The Savage Garden reference reminds me of when we first joined the national gc and spent our $500 levy in one night (we did have hamburgers) – Mick Molloy was running through the Clubhouse shouting expletives about Savage Garden as their music came on!!! This must be another reason why they are your favourite band??

Caught me on the Monash again although this time I wasn’t sandwiched between two semi trailers. This time I had on my christmas hat tackling a very dangerous round-a-boutwith hundreds of Merry Christmas comuters making their way to lunch.Lunch was great -Nicole drove off after a long day with Chioe and Harry singing a loud rendition of “we wish you a merry christmas..”It was funny although I think Nicole had heard that song a few too many times.
The scales will decide the winner of the great pork crackling challenge in early jan.2012.and I hope every-ones cardiology review goes well.
And after knowing us all your life what surprises you about our wit or didn’t you get all those jokes in your formative years.Go hard as we all are ready for your safe return.Sorry to be a blog hog.xxx

Georgie keep up the good work! If you want some animals or insects we can send you down some ‘rooting beetles.they’re everywhere down here. Been painting the house at Inverloch w Greigga ,Tonz, and Picasso (Ridgy) Plenty of cricket, odd ale or two,yet to hit the surf but cycling. Greigga asks has Neil Diamond’s “Crunchy Granola Sweet” had a run on the iPod yet?
