Hello everyone, it is with great pride and pleasure that I can announce the mission of South Pole Solo was fully achieved. I got up a little earlier and arrived at 5.55pm just as I had left from Hercules Inlet, solo. Before I skied the last 100metres by myself a representative from the Amundsen–Scott base greeted me, congratulated me, and suggested I drop by tomorrow morning to visit their store and learn more about the base. Reaching the pole, an overwhelming feeling was one of utter contentment. This adventure has been an unbelievable experience and I look forward to getting home and sharing it with you in greater detail. It is past 12am my time as I have been preoccupied having a nice meal with two ALE staff staying at the campsite in readiness for the Scott 100th year anniversary dinner on the 17th January.
I am having a rest day here tomorrow and will have more time to write a bigger blog and thank the many people who have taken the journey with me and supported me all the way. I am truly humble to be in your thoughts. Tomorrow I will also fill you in about where things go from here. Some days are made for rejoicing and pure celebrating and today is one of these days.
Song for the Day: “Born to be Alive” by Patrick Hernandez http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rYYecQN3VM
Play it loud and dance hard for me.
Mark ‘Georgie’ George
PS thank you for all the congratulations on the website so far.

IT MUST HAVE BEEN THE FEW BEERS WE HAD ON GRAND FINAL DAY WITH TERRY THAT GOT YOU FIT ENOUGH TO COMPLETE THIS JOURNEY. PERHAPS YOU COULD PASS SOMETHING ABOUT DETERMINATION TO YOUR FOOTY TEAM AS IT HAS BEEN OUT IN THE COLD FAR TOO LONG.

You never cease to impress, amaze and inspire georie…. Still find it hard to believe that a Tigers supporter is cable of the commitment you can achieve. Born to be Alive is pumpin’ and the dancing is ordinary as I raise a glass of red to mate

Congratulations and thanx for sharing your adventure with us. I hope you can come to Elsternwick Primary school to tell us all about it.
This is truly an amazing feat, congratulations to you and your family and supporters. I have been breathless reading your blog each day. Oh and when you get back please return my call from November…lol.
The eagle has landed.Home fires are burning (I hope not literally)Words cannot descibe how happy we are that you achieved what you set out to do:as if you hadn’t, you only would have returned as evidenced by Everist.Ain’t no mountain high enough. At Wandi with my gorgeous boys.Offered them both a tandom flight paragliding but no ones taking after you so far.Believe it or not you were scared of hieghts at their age.Jugs are on me at the bar tonight and I may have to borrow some money on your return.Might even drop in on Captain Macfarlene and let him know his ripper great grandchild had a ripper of a great, great grandchild. His voyage to australia not in vain as it put you in closer proximity to the southpole.Much love and pride at this special time.
Congratulations Mark. Unbelievable achievement and have loved following you on the journey. Have a safe trip home.
Brilliant.
You’ve joined an elite and exclusive group of intrepid adventurers to have completed such a feat (along with your other achievements of Nth Pole and Everest, etc).
We all knew you were ‘special’ (a.k.a. Different) and this is further testament to that.
I’ll shout you a giant Slurpee when you get back. (Just think of it as colored snow that you CAN drink!!)
Enjoy the serenity…..Greigga
Super effort Georgie and stoked that you made it. You must be over the moon right now, but I’m just a tad bit miserable that your journey has come to an end. What the hell am I supposed to do with my lunch breaks now? I suppose I will have to go back to Googling Zoo Weekly & Victoria’s Secret? Oh well, if I have too, but only until your next adventure… right??
Safe return mate, see you soon.
Oh how fantastic to hear your voice this morning, feeling very proud of you at the moment and so happy you have achieved your dream.
It,s great to have another excuse to have a wine tonight, it was meant to be an AFD! oh well may as well drink the bottle then! Can’t wait to be able to share one with you. Keep safe on your journey home
Melin. Xx
Good on you Georgie. You may have to update your music library past 1987 on your return. Safe trip home.
Mark. As I sit here in the dead of winter in Dubai (28 degrees) and I hear people complain about how chilly it’s getting at nights, I tell them all where YOU are right now and how truly amazing a feat it is. I still vividly recall how you shared your Everest experience with my team in Sydney and, while different, this South Pole Solo will be equally inspirational.
Hope to see you at Yarrawonga in July where I’ll no doubt be complaining how cold it is! Safe Trip Home! Congratulations! Awesome!
Kev (&monkey)

Wow, congratulations Georgie. I have been really enjoying sharing your adventure. It got to the point where I was checking your blog first thing every morning in the UK. Great job and enjoy the trip back, cheers
Fantastic effort mate! Keep well and get home safely. Is it all downhill on the return trip?
Well done Silver,
Congratulations!
