Looking good Georgie, a couple of shots for the wall
Lachlan Goodison Jan 11, 2012
Really happy to hear that you’re kite skiing for fun and not going for a return. Enjoy your last few days and build an igloo for us of you’re so inclined. Love The Goodisons
Greigga Jan 11, 2012
Great photos.
Love the fluffy jacket – would look great at the clubs on Commercial Rd with your black skivvy underneath (Hello Travis).
You think they’d make the pole a bit bigger for you to find in the middle of all that white.
Enjoy the remaining time in the Antarctic.

Mark, congratulations. I have been praying hard, along with Judy of course, that you would keep safe and achieve your goal – you have done both. Now just come home safely and we will be very happy. Love Mitzi and Michael

Peter Dunn Jan 11, 2012
Just a fabulous achievement Mark that was scary enough for those of us just following the blog. Safe journey outbound. All your mates at Alpha.

Congratulations georgie
You are a mad bastard, albeit a determined, fit and organised one. This sort of feat makes tsunami dodging look positively tame. Come home safe eh! (It’s even snowing at mt Buller today in your honour!)
JC reckons you have committed to keep doing this sort of stuff until the Tiges win their next flag….therefore, I guess eventually you’ll be the first bloke over 80yo to roll his wheelchair to the pole!
nanette Jan 11, 2012
Are you sending us Melbournites a message Mark? Over 100kph icy winds, snow on Hotham and Falls, hail/heavy rain in suburbs. But to be
30 degrees in Bright at weekend, crazy. Enjoy, but be safe, mate.
JOFF Jan 11, 2012
Once again – well done champ.
I never realised there was actually a pole at the South Pole let alone a barber’s shop pole topped with a mirror ball!
shark Jan 11, 2012
He’s really just at a night club without his mates because they wouldn’t let us in without a skivvy! Can’t spot the bar in the photos…no doubt the beers would be cold!
Toni Sparkes Jan 11, 2012
Hiya Mark – Fabulous effort! If I’d known you were taking playlists I’d have organised a collection from our Opera Diva friend from Byron… not sure on what occasion you’d play? Patience in overcoming strudles or whatever those icy things are called? Or save for tough negotiations with polar bears? Enjoy and best wishes for safe return…. mind you it has hailed 3 times here today so we are almost experiencing same!
peter Jan 11, 2012
I wont bother sending the car down….well done gutsy effort. 007

Totally awesome mate, well done. You’re an inspiration. Thanks for dragging my wheelchair with you all the way to the pole. You might have wondered why your sled was so b@55y heavy but I enjoyed the ride.
Phil Heath Jan 13, 2012
Well done – great to see after all the time in prep and getting there – safe journey home and look forward to catching up after the trip.
Waldo Jan 13, 2012
great effort georgie, I’ll have a cold one at the bar for you when you get back to the “G”, or is it too soon to mention cold things…..
Kate Galloway Jan 16, 2012
Hi Mark,
I have been following your adventure and am so very proud of you. You have brought a few tears to my eyes due to your bravery, committment and the thought of how alone you were out there. Travel back safely and we look forward to hearing your voice very soon. Lots of love from all at Corcoran’s.
